iPhone wallet > add > driver's license and id cards not presenting option to scan US drivers license
For users of iPhones in the United States what do you do to correct the problem where in the current iOS 18.5 wallet app under add "driver's license and id cards" it shows the Japanese citizen "my number contact" and using the mynaportal app store application and no sign of option to add a United States drivers license?
I've already confirmed that under settings > general > language and region + settings > apple id > media and purchases + app store > settings > region that all are configured for United States. I've already force quit the wallet app and restarted device and even tried switching all the above region settings to a different region, e.g. China Mainland, and then rebooting phone, opening wallet app, then switching region settings back to United States and rebooting again with no change in results.
I'm from California, a supported state for this activity, and that's what is defined anywhere in apple id or elsewhere that asks my address. This seems like its irrelevant before I've even been given the option to scan a drivers license at which point it might tell me I have an unsupported state at this time. Also I see nowhere in the region settings mentioned above that asks about your state after specifying country United States?
The only thing on this iPhone 15 Pro Max device that might have every created some affiliation with Japen was the addition of a Sucia public transit card in wallet at one time when I travelled there that still has a balance on it. Tried disabling, not deleting, access to it in the wallet and it did not affect results wrt adding California drivers license to wallet.
