Slow app updates after upgrading to iPhone 16

I had no problem before I recently updated to iphone 16… now it takes forever to update apps when I manually launch the update.

What’s the deal?

It’s not wifi speed. I had the same wifi before upgrading to iphone 16.

Do you have a VPN installed?

There are many additional factors that will determine the time it takes for downloads whether that is from the App Store or not. The size of the update will vary between each app and the WiFi speed is also independent of your Internet Connection speed. Here are some troubleshooting steps that can be performed on your device:

  • Try downloading over Cellular instead of WiFi to see if you can pinpoint the area of concern.
  • Reset Network Settings on your device at Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will erase your WiFi password, so it will need to be entered again the first time you sign into your network.
  • Force Restart your phone to clear any possible corruption in cache files. It will likely take a couple of attempts to get the speed and sequence of the key presses correct and the last step of holding the side button until the Apple logo appears could take up to 15 seconds. Ignore anything else you see on the screen during that time.

Thanks for the info, but I’m not going to do any of that.

I started to update an app through the app store and it just sat there spinning.

I let it sit for a couple of hours, still spinning.

Just now I restarted the phone and it looks like the app updated.

Never had this problem on the 13 I traded in, only now do I have this problem on the new 16.
