How to completely erase WD 2TB My Passport for Mac Portable External Hard Drive

I have a WD 2TB My Passport for Mac portable External Hard Drive that I want to completely erase to factory new condition and than start using it all over again. What is the best way to do this?

I have an iMac and my software is Sequoia 15.5.

Using Disk Utility to format the drive. If the drive will only be used with the Mac then format as APFS format.
