Apple does have their own search engine, with the search results integrated directly within various Apple products:

An agreement to not develop a competing product was revealed in court proceedings a while ago, as part of their agreement with Google to remain Apple's default search engine.

Presumably because the company did not consider that to be part of their business plan.

“Why” that might be so is beyond the scope of discussion within this community.
