User Interface is a challenge on Sequoia as compared to El Capitan

I now had to upgrade my mac to sequoia, since my old macbook air didn't support a system update, unfortunately! I absolutely loved it and everything worked impeccably. Now on the Sequoia, I have difficulties adjusting to the user interface as there is less shading and contrast in tables and sidebars. Contents are less easily readable and less easy to differentiate and scan quickly.

I've tried changing the Appearance as well as Accessibility Settings, but they fall short of the intended purpose.

MacBook Air 15″, macOS 15.5

People have the same complaints one macOS to the next macOS year to year— nothing new here.

You jump 10 years from a 2015 OS X El Capitan to a 2025 macOS Sequoia....

there will always be challenges. Full stop.

it never pays to get too far behind in the hardware or the software...

Change is the one thing you can count on.

Baby steps along the way is much easier to digest compared to a huge jump.

I say congratulations on your recent purchase and stepping into the future, I fully suspect you will adapt given some time.

You have 90-day complimentary Support (800) MY–APPLE (800–692–7753) on your new purchase. I would take advantage of that support if needed.

If you run old software then it is critical you stay on top of changes Apple makes every year so you know what to expect. IMHO iTunes/Music have been going downhill since iTunes 7. Eventually you are forced to transition and then comes the big shock. In particular Apple makes big transitions every few years. I kept iTunes 7 running on every OS up through High Sierra, but iTunes 7 is a 32 bit application and after Catalina you could no longer run 32 bit applications. I also found that Sequoia won't let you run iTunes at all, even 64 bit versions.

If you are still running El Capitan vintage applications now, remember that the next big transition comes in just over two years time when Apple releases its post-Tahoe macOS version. That won't let you run Intel version apps at all. So anticipate another software mass extinction then.
