Forwarded calendar invitations using iOS Mail app do not properly attach the calendar invite

Whenever I use an iPhone to forward a meeting invite I received to someone else, it asks if I want to include the attachments (The calendar invite.) I choose 'include' and send out the forwarded invite.

When the recipient receives the forwarded calendar invite in their email, there is no calendar attachment included. The attachment does not appear on their mail app on their phone nor does it appear on their desktop.

If I were to instead forward the invite from the desktop (Windows), the attachment would be properly included on the recipient's end.
