I depend on my calendar to remind me several minutes prior to any meetings (virtual or otherwise). Those alerts have always been at "normal" phone volume, i.e., I could always hear them easily. Now they are so quiet that I usually miss them.

If you just want to change the volume of alerts:
Go to Settings > sounds and Haptices
There you can change the volume for calls and alerts with the slider.
(Setting it somewhere near the middle works for many people.)
If you'd like to experiment, and change the alert sound itself:
Try going to Settings > Notifications > Calendar
There you can tap on "Sounds" and try choosing from the sounds available, one you can hear well.
(ie: as you tap beside a sound name (on the left) you can hear just what that sound sounds like.
For me, the sounds listed in "Classic" are the more noticeable ones.)
