Recently, I have started messaging a friend who is using Apple Watch For Your Kids to stay off his phone for a while. The group chat we had with him no longer functions and my personal chat with him from my Android phone has reverted to SMS. Is there a way to get RCS to work on an Apple Watch set up this way?
My carrier supports RCS. His carrier also supports RCS (we’re both Verizon), but he can’t use it on his standalone Apple Watch.
I use Verizon and Google Messages displays RCS as connected. I can use RCS with other people I speak to. My friend is also on Verizon but he cannot message using RCS due to his watch being set up stand-alone.

Did you friend already install the latest watchOS 11.6 and iOS 18.6?
Yes. His watch is up to date and the phone that the watch is connected to is also up to date.
We tried it, but it didn’t do much of anything in the RCS regard.
