Why does my iPhone 16 Pro fail to add cards in Apple Wallet ?

I have an issue with my iPhone 16 Pro, I’ve tried to add my debit card into my wallet it says card not added. And btw my MacBook, iPhone 14 Pro device and Apple Watch is able to add the debit card into wallet and verify. But why my new device iPhone 16 pro is keep showing me card not added? I’ve contact to bank issuer, there’s nothing wrong on their side they tried to register new token to my current device too. But totally is not working! Is this iPhone 16 pro bug issue?

So, who is the bank? If they are sending the token, and it’s rejected, what is the token service providers exact error message?

If the token service provider (TSP) is getting an error message, the bank and/or TSP need to directly contact the Apple Pay Support team. Regular consumer Apple customer support will not be able to resolve the issue.

The message you’re displaying is not from the bank or TSP. It’s probably an error from the Payment Network Operator (Visa, Mastercard, American Express etc.). Most banks don’t do their own customer verification initially and rely on PNO. Some banks use a third party for verification, but most use the PNO. A few banks do their own verification. This is why I asked the bank involved.

Maybank uses a TSP. The bank support staff needs to work with the TSP and PNO to resolve the issue.

I suspect the PNO is suspicious of your iPhone. While the PNO may be able to verify an individual’s identity, they have no means of verifying the iPhone. It will serve no purpose to contact the PNO. Your bank must work with the PNO to resolve and verification and/or fraud issues.

Yes, it could be a bug affecting Apple Pay provisioning on the iPhone 16 Pro, especially if this model or iOS version has known issues with Maybank or tokenization.

You should Reset All Settings (non-destructive)

  • Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset All Settings.
  • This won't delete your data but will reset settings like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and others — useful for correcting hidden Wallet/Apple Pay issues.
