Any suggestions how to individualise icon groups? (beyond just name)
It would be really helpful to, say, give each group a different background colour/tint - this has been possible on android devices for many years. It's really helpful.
Tinting Icons or icon groups might look pretty, but they are still all the same at a glance.

While you can alter the appearance of all App and folder icons, you cannot change the colour individually:
