How do I remove a Playlist in Apple Music on Mac when the 'Delete Playlist' option is missing?

You used to be able to Remove a Playlist in Apple Music - it add a "Favorites1" all by itself, I already have a "Favorites" but the old option on right-click to Delete Playlist is GONE.

the instructions on this page are now WRONG:

Create, edit, and delete playlists in Music on Mac - Apple Support

As you can see in this screen shot:

All there is is "Delete from Library" which actually deletes a SONG, and luckily Control-Z will bring the song back.

I've spent an hour trying everything I can think of but there seems no way to remove Playlists. I organize all my music in Playlists with custom titles and images, and love it, but I can't remove this one that is an error.

Help. Thank you.

You can certainly send feedback here:

Just know that a Playlist is only links to the actual songs and no changes in the Playlist, including deleting or duplicating, has any effect on the original song. They are not folders that actually store the songs. It is not as clear on the Mac that your Playlists are stored in the Library, where on the iPhone, the Library tab includes your Playlists and semantically it may make more sense for it to say Delete from Library on the iPhone. I do understand where it could cause confusion, or at least in the delete message they could make it clear that the songs will not be deleted from your Library.

This instructions you included are CORRECT and state that "If you delete a playlist, the songs in the playlist remain in your library and on your computer" and to delete a playlist it says "Control-click a playlist in the sidebar, then choose Delete from Library".

Thank you for the reply. Odd they changed the verbiage from "Delete Playlist" to "Delete from Library" (which sounds scarier, as you aren't wanting to delete from library, that is worded very poorly - I had first just reused the Playlist and removed the songs and changed the name and image and reused it for a new CD buring. But I figured out if you remove all the songs first, (you are right deleting songs just removes from the list, I know that) then you can delete the Playlist. Kinda dumb I think for them to use "Delete from Library" which sounds pretty fatal, when actually you are just removing from Play List and removing a Playlist.

Again, thanks for the clarification.

Lesson Learned: Yikes - "Delete from Library" at bottom really only means "delete from Playlist" and/or Remove Play List. (once it is empty)

When you choose the option to Delete the Playlist from your Library, it should only be the Playlist that is removed from your Library. I just verified this myself and when I choose Delete from Library on a Playlist, all the Songs that were in the Playlist are still available when looking in my Library.

Choose Delete from Library on that Playlist, then choose Songs above in the sidebar under the Library section and those Songs should still be there for you to add to a different Playlist if you wish.
