M4 Mac mini drops SSH connection in local network

I am trying to ssh into a ubuntu machine through M4 Mac mini from the terminal i.e. `ssh user@ip`. But it randomly drops the connection. When I ping ubuntu IP address, I see same behavior i.e. it sometime stays stable and then randomly drops for a long time and then comes back.

I thought it is the issue with ubuntu machine, but if I ssh or ping from windows it remains stable through out.

And it seems that the issue is not just with ubuntu. If I try to ping my Mac mini IP through either windows/ubuntu then also the connection drops.

I tried turning on/off firewall in Mac but still same issue.

Here is the output of ping to ubuntu machine from Mac mini:

ping 192.168.0.111
PING 192.168.0.111 (192.168.0.111): 56 data bytes

ping: sendto: Host is down
Request timeout for icmp_seq 5
^C
--- 192.168.0.111 ping statistics ---
7 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100.0% packet loss

Please help me to solve this issue.

sure thanks for the help @owl-53 @VDAqua.

I kept it on its side and after flipping it multiple times it seems that the connection is stable when I keep it on its side.

This is really a weird design flaw from apple.

What a gate this time.. XD

Not exact sure about a Design Flaw per se

Every Mac Mini I have owned going back to 2011 has had the same Anteni for Bluetooth and Wifi in the same location

The only real outward facing design change has been the Size, plus 2 USB ports on the face / 3.5mm headphone jack and 4 USB-C / Thunderbolt on the back

This one could be lifted almost in the palm of you hand

Really a fun machine to use

The previous suggest may appear weird "Mini on its side. "

But believe it

The Wifi and Bluetooth antenni ( spelling ) on Mac Minis are located, drum roll please

On the Bottom ( black underside ) of the machine

That is why I always keep my M4 Mac Mini on its' side with the Black Belly facing the Access Point / Router

Better and more Stable Wifi 6E to Fibre Optic connected Router

As a point of reference related to a Bluetooth Issue on the same machine M4 Mac Mini

Thanks owl-53!

I will try it out.

But one question, My internet is working fine and I am able to ping router's IP as well. I should face issues with this two as well but it is just for devices in the local network.

Right now I clicked on "forgot network" and reconnected with the wifi and it seems to be stable for now.

I will try it out and will inform here
