Flashing Amber (Red) Light:

Run a Diagnostics Test. There may be a hardware issue.

1. Go Here: Use Apple Diagnostics to Test your Mac - Apple Support
2. Scroll to: If the SIL flashes
3. As it Reads: If the SIL flashes white one or more times after you turn on the computer, there may be a hardware issue. To isolate the issue, run Apple Diagnostics.

The usual method is to restore a Time Machine backup: Recover all your files from a Time Machine backup - Apple Support

To boot Recovery please read Intro to macOS Recovery - Apple Support. Follow the instructions for the type of Mac you have.

If the Power Button Isn't Working for Recovery Mode:

See "Startup Options"?

Holding down the power button, you'd see Startup Options, So, click it, and from there select Recovery Mode.

USB Bootable Installer:
