How to address self-developing hairline cracks on nano texture iPad Pro screen under warranty?

ipad pro m4 13 with nano texture screen, first self developing crack appeared 3 months after purchase, followed by two more self developing hairline cracks about 2cm each, no visible starting point, the ipad has been encased in an otter box from day one, no drops or shocks, no scratches. Have visited two geniuses in two different apple shops, both advised they have no specific cure or solution for this type of problem for a nano texture screen, after consulting with their respective managers they classified these hairline crack as “cosmetic” and not under warranty. I am really worried these are screen inherent defects that will continue to pop up, my warranty expires 2nd July. What should I do? Thanks

Hi, you’re welcome. Your choice obviously, but this is the first reported incident of cracks spontaneously appearing in nano textured glass iPad Pros in this community. Since that model has been out since May 2024, if it were a manufacturing defect I would think more than one unit would be affected. Even searching web, returns nothing substantial.

Nano textured glass is softer than regular glass, which makes it more susceptible to scratches. But the softness makes it much less likely for cracks to appear, even after hard knocks or drops.

Hi thanks for your reply, the nano texture screen has very low light reflectivity almost like a kindle e-ink screen reading experience which I like very much, I will not add an extra screen protector which will decrease visibility, and I am not using a pen just my fingers. I purchased the case from Apple as recommended and compatible with my ipad model, its an “Otter Box Statement Series Studio Case for Ipad Pro” just a simple one without keyboard or other sharp surfaces, the case cover has a soft interior lining in contact with the screen so I assume no risk of damage or deformation to the Ipad. Still believe the hairline cracks are a manufacturing defect for this new nano texture screen. Future buyers of the nano texture screen beware.
