iPad Pro 11“ (3rd gen) does not recognize Apple Pencil, even after countless attempts of troubleshooting

My 3 year-old iPad has stopped recognizing my Apple Pencil (2nd gen).

The pencil is being charged, but only connects to other iPads. I tried another Apple Pencil which didn’t connect either. I installed the latest iPadOS, the pencil is definetely compatible (it worked before), I removed the pencil from saved bluetooth devices, restarted the iPad countless times, did 3 DFU restores (from Mac, so also a firmware sweep), let an Apple Service Provider run a hardware diagnose with no errors, cleaned the connection surface, made sure the pencil tip is screwed on completely and did everything else that either Apple Support or this Community recommended. I tried everything, but nothing helped. Any clues or creative ideas how I could fix my iPad?

Given your description and steps already attempted, you might be best advised to seek assistance directly from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page.

Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases from Apple devices using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

You might also visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to hands-on test your iPad and Pencil:
