iMac was damaged in transit when sending in for Trade In

The trade in value of my iMac was reduced to $0 because the screen was shattered during transit via FedEx to Apple. I did not take a picture of it before I sent. Yes, I see that was a mistake. I have traded in devices before and not had a problem.


Apple had a picture of my iMac damaged but no picture of the shipping box. The box must also have been damaged, which would have helped my case.


What can I do? I called three times. Last was an escalation to a very rude woman who said there were no further escalations available. Im out the trade in value of $365 and my old iMac which worked perfectly fine with no damage at all.


Looking for guidance from this community. This is my first bad experience with Apple. Very disappointing.

Hello~ Your “bad experience “ is not with Apple but with FedEx. File a claim with them as *John Galt * suggests. When sending in anything (even a return) …I always take a picture while packing as proof of condition. I also make sure to insure for the value of said item. The shipper …in this case FedEx is at fault.

Nothing much that you can do. The device has no value. Hopefully you insured it for the trade-in amount before shipping? That would. be your only recourse. This isn't an Apple issue, your disappointment. should be with the. carrier.
