Voice Control activating even though disabled on my iPhone 16

iPhone 16 running iOS 18.4.1. While playing audio, Voice Control activates and interrupts playback, even though I’ve turned off Voice Control and turned off Siri and rebooted. Mostly happens with wired headset.

Other have reported fixing this by turning off Siri and Voice Control and Side Button initiation of VC, doesn’t work for me.

ideas appreciated!

Restarting your iPhone (deletes temporary files, may update setting changes, and may restore order)

or

Keeping iPhone up-to-date with the latest iOS version may or may not help

(Note: It is wise to back-up your iPhone first, if updating)

Additional info -- Voice Control, even though turned off, is nevertheless triggered on my wife's iPhone (but not mine) when our two iPhones are near each other! I don't know if it matters, but both of our iPhones are logged into the same Apple ID

Ahh ... seems there are often unusual difficulties when more than one person uses an Apple ID / Apple Account. Apparently Apple expects everyone to have their own unique Apple ID, and it's also a requirement for members of a Family Sharing group.

Can only suggest your wife may want to try checking her iPhone's Voice Control settings. Maybe turning Voice Control on and off again may help ?
