Unable to install macOS Monterey on my 2015 MacBook Pro from Big Sur

The installer needs to install a required firmware update. Compatible internal storage is required. How does one find out how to update the firmware? Trying to upgrade to Monterey on a Macbook Pro mid 2015 from Big Sur OS 11.7.8

Does your MBPro have its original Apple drive inside, or was the drive replaced by a non-Apple drive?

Monterey & later versions of macOS require an Apple drive to be in the Mac in order to perform the firmware update.

@ MartinR is very correct regarding Original versus After Market Internal Drives

Starting somewhere are Monterey 12.3 and higher

The Installer would verify if the Internal Drive was Apple Original or Others

There is a way around this and conditional on if you still having the Original Apple Drive

Switch out the after market drive for the original apple drive

Run the installer to that drive

The Firmware contained in the Installer with update the computer Firmware

Reverse the previous, run the installer again to the after market drive
