How do I prevent notifications from getting stuck on Apple Watch Series 10 screen?

How do I stop my notifications from staying on the screen on Apple Watch Series 10?

They wont disappear without a manual dismiss. Ive tried using gestures so the face turns off when wrist is down etc but as soon as I move my wrist, screen lights back up and notification is still there. For example it will open the imessage notifications etc. I work in retail and move my hands alot. I dislike the notification staying on the screen. I dont think I had this issue with my SE 1st gen, but I always used to use cinema mode until hand gestures were a thing with the s10. help? I dont want my watch to live in cinema mode all the time or have no notifications... I enjoy being able to quickly glance at the time with wrist up motion.
