How to find a cost-effective replacement for an incompatible 23-inch Apple Cinema HD monitor with a Mac Studio M4?

I've just purchased a Mac Studio M4 and a Studio Display to replace my old setup of a 2019 iMac and a Cinema HD (23 inch) as a second monitor. I'd managed to get the Cinema to work on the iMac using a Belkin adapter suggested by Apple at the time, but I've been told after an extensive chat with Apple Support that the Resolution of the Cinema is not compatible because the Mac Studio only recognises 6K and above and the Cinema tops out at 1900 x 1200 which is only HD I think. There doesn't seem to be any way to get either piece of hardware to recognise the other, "fooling" the system. Typical lack of backwards compatibility eh?

So has anyone got any solutions, either to get it to work (unlikely) or a very cost effective option (probably 2nd hand, but new if low priced). It would have to fit in the footprint of the current Cinema which is 21 inches (about 53cm) wide. I could squeeze to a bit wider, but then I'm pushing my studio speakers off the desk!

Cheers in advance to all the hardworking Apple fans... they do try our patience (Apple).

Latest Sequoia installed, but that won't make any difference.

Update, I've just checked and the Apple Studio Display is 5K so that's wrong information I was given for a start - about the Mac Studio being only compatible with 6K and above. I don't know anything much about monitor resolutions so need to get good advice so I don't buy something that still won't work.

Update. I've got it working finally. I basically unplugged all the adapter stuff - the VGA into the adapter - the adapter into the USB C slot and then put it all back together again and suddenly it's working [Shrugs]

Would still appreciate some replacement monitor advice as this one may not be long for this world!

Funny, we both responded at the same time. If you are looking for a replacement in the future like I said earlier, I recommend getting 4k, I know Samsung has some pretty cheap monitors. I have a 4k 60Hz 31.5 in Samsung monitor that was only 350 dollars. (just note you need to use HDMI 2 or DisplayPort to get 60Hz.)

I just posted that I finally got it working above. Must have been about the time you made your post. Strange. I hadn't done anything except disconnect the Cinema's Adapter from the iMac usb-c and then reconnected that to the Mac Studio usb-c. Nothing got moved or disturbed other than that. Yet I went through a whole load of issues even trying to get the main monitor to show the primary screen when the 2nd monitor was connected. Bizarre.

It does have a power button. But the LED light would come on when I plugged in the usb-c so power wasn't the problem especially. I see what you mean about the font smoothing but I only use this 2nd monitor for Finder tasks and the Level Indicator and Mixer in my Logic Pro. Any high res requirements are all on the main monitor. Cheers.

Cheers. So it's only the HDMI port that will take a 60hz? (I don't think there's a display port on the Mac studio - I have an old adapter I checked) I don't know much about resolution or frequencies. Are all 4k monitors 60Hz or am I misunderstanding? I have limited space on the desk. Have to fit my speakers on there too. Otherwise I'd probably just get another Apple Studio equivalent but I've only got 21.5 inches space, maybe another inch or two but when I had the iMac the monitors were nearly falling off the edge!

Hi - I've been using it for a few days now and it works. The only issue is that if the Mac goes into sleep mode or I restart, the Cinema Display won't come on until I physically unplug the VGA adapter from the Cinema Display VGA port and then plug it back in. Then it comes on as normal after a couple of seconds. This means that every time I wake up the Mac for a session I have to do this. Any suggestions? Ta.
