Why don't Mail app notifications show the number of unread emails on Mac mini?

A trivial matter but I just wondered why the amount of Emails that I have does not appear on the Mail App anymore.

At one time I could see how many there were but now it seems to have stopped showing.I can obviously see the mails when I open the Mail App but wonder if I had done something or has it changed since the newer Mail became available in recent updates.

I am on OS Sequoia 15.4.1 Mac mini M4
