Trackpad latency on 2020 iMac with Sonoma 14.4.1

I have an older iMac, it's a 2020 5k model 27" screen.

Recently, my trackpad has started have fits of high latency. It's fully charged, i've rebooted, disconnected and reconnected and it persists. I have my system set to auto update operating system changes, so i'm wondering if there has been reports if this type of latency on trackpads. The keyboard appears unaffected. I'm on Sonoma 14.4.1.

Does the Trackpad work OK connected directly to the iMac with the cable?

Do you have a Magic Mouse and does it have the same problem as the Trackpad?

This is starting to sound like interference from a high speed USB cable, drive or device.

If you have a high speed USB cable, drive or device near the Trackpad or in-between the Trackpad and iMac, try moving it away or to the side.

I see the upgrade and I am doing that tonight, but it's interesting. The trackpad is 93% charged and I'm experiencing the latency, but it goes away when I connect it to the USB. This trackpad is as old as the computer. Does the bluetooth break on these at some point?

I also have a 2020 27" iMac with a trackpad attached. I always keep both the keyboard and trackpad plugged in so they remain charged. No issues whatsoever. I would also like to see your EtreCheck report to see if there is something installed that may be causing the issue yours is having.

One major difference between yours and mine is I'm on Sequoia however even when I was on Sonoma I never had issues.

Well, I can't say what resolved this. I upgraded to the latest operating system and disconnected and reconnected the trackpad and now it seems to be resolved. It was still acting poorly after the upgrade to 15.4.1, but after disconnecting and reconnecting the trackpads bluetooth connection, it seemed to resolve. Perhaps it was the combination since I did that trackpad reset before to no avail.

Thanks for the help.
