Apple A 1470- used only to back up data.

Can the A 1470 be hard wired to my laptop and used only for its Time Capsule back up function. If so, which port is best to connect to? Will my laptop recognize and access my previous back ups? My internet functioned much quicker with a new router from EERO and it seemed that using the A 1470 as a router, as I have for years, caused issues.

You can always turn off the Airport Features, including the router and wireless access point and use it just as a time Capsule on the network.

The better option would be to connect the Time Capsule (TC) to your "main" Eero router by Ethernet. You will then want to reconfigure the TC, at a minimum for:

  • Operating in bridge mode. This will allow the Eero router to continue to provide routing services to all devices either connected to the Eero system or the TC.
  • Disable the TC's wireless radios so they don't interfere with the Eero's wireless network.

Phil0124 has already provided you with a link to make those changes.
