MacBook Air Migration Assistant issues

I have the M2 MBA and want to migrate to the new M4 MBA. While I was doing this over wi-fi(both laptops were on power and on the same wifi) about ⅔ into the process an error message appeared on the new laptop and I was asked to cancel the migration.

When I shut down both laptops and tried to migrate again I was unable to and the M4 MBA said I already had a profile set up.

How do I proceed with the migration so it reaches completion?

Why would the migration stop before concluding?

How do I remove the current user on the M4 so I can retry the migration?

MacBook Air, macOS 15.4

Hi machado22,

It might be easiest to just erase the M4 MBA before trying again, since nothing was loaded onto it before you tried to migrate. To erase, choose one of these options:

In the meanwhile, make a Time Machine backup of your M2 MBA to an external drive. Then, once the M4 MBA is ready, import from the Time Machine backup in Setup Assistant. This should ensure that no errors happen due to connection issues, and is generally more reliable in my opinion.

I'm not sure why the migration stopped before concluding in your case, but if it happens again, please take a picture of the error and post it here.
