Problem with Unicode not displaying Tangut in Pages only

Hi, I'm on Monterey 12.5, using Pages 12.2.1, and I'm having an issue typing Tangut characters. I have two Tangut fonts downloaded (Noto and Yinchuan), and while they work perfectly well in all of my other apps, including Notes and my browser, they cannot be copy-pasted into Pages documents. While they display fine in the Pages Character Viewer, when I double click to type them they simply make a white space, if anything at all. They also seemingly can't be typed with the Unicode Hex Input keyboard, as it only lets me type 4 digits, entering a character from the Khmer block before I get to the last digit, but that's a separate issue.

To type characters beyond the BMP with the Unicode Hex layout you need to type the UTF-16 hex (8 characters) instead of 4 or five. For U+17000 this would be D81CDC00.

I will add a Tangut font later and see if Sonoma pages will display it (no way to test Monterey here).

Any chance of teasing iconv(1) to deal with Tangut from the clipboard into Pages paste without using MS Word as a medium?

I don’t know. Pages behavior (verified now also for sequoia) is very strange, doesn’t register direct input efforts at all for this particular code range, while I think no problem with others nearby.
