How do I resolve a double charge for ChatGPT Plus subscription through Apple and OpenAI?
I need help with a billing issue regarding my ChatGPT Plus subscription.
Here is my situation:
- I initially subscribed to ChatGPT Plus through Apple.
- When my April renewal came, the card linked to Apple didn’t have funds, so the payment failed.
- The next day, I went to chat.openai.com and upgraded to ChatGPT Plus using a different card that is not linked to Apple. The payment succeeded, and I’ve been using ChatGPT Plus normally since then.
- However, Apple is still trying to charge me $19.99 for the April billing cycle, even though I already paid it directly on the ChatGPT website.
- My Apple Subscriptions menu shows ChatGPT Plus “expires on May 5,” which implies that Apple believes I paid for April, but I didn’t pay through Apple – I paid directly to OpenAI.
Because of this, my Apple-linked card has been temporarily locked, and I can no longer download apps on the App Store. Apple says I have an unpaid subscription, but I already paid it — just not through them.
I live in Mongolia, and Apple doesn’t offer customer support here, so I’m unable to contact them to fix this.
