How can I reset an old iPod touch if I forgot the passcode and DFU mode fails?

Cannot remember the pin, and during factory reset with iTunes it stops because my ipod has been in DFU mode, but it is no longer in DFU mode. If I want to reset this ipod from DFU mode I must disconnect it and put it in DFU mode again. I only has the OK alternative but when clicked nothing happens. I obviously cannot enter my ipod to do this as I cannot remember my pin.
