2020 iMac Intel freezes and crashes regularly despite Apple Genius Bar "repairs"

Hello - my iMac 2020 Intel has been freezing and crashing since January. I have had it "repaired" at the Genius Bar twice, but it's started freezing and crashing again. I have have over 200GB free disk space, I never run large, complex software programs, and not crashes if I'm doing the most mundane tasks - writing a word document, scrolling on the web, etc. I have attached the Error Report, if anyone knows how to read it I'd be grateful for any information (they didn't even want to see the report at the Genius Bar, they simply said it was "probably a software issue", whatever that nebulous statement means...). Thanks!

iMac 27″, macOS 15.4

It will help us get a good idea of what is causing your problem if you provide a report of your system, that way we do not have to play 20 questions with you. The report we are requesting does NOT provide any personal information and is extremely safe to use. Please navigate towww.Etrecheck.com and download the free version of EtreCheck. Once you have you downloaded the app and installed it, please run the report and save it. This report will help us get a good idea what has been installed on your system and help us be able to diagnose what may be wrong.

When you have your report, you can attach it when you reply to this message and we can then review it and help you determine what is needed to get your system running well again.

For instructions on how to download your EtreCheck report and attach it to your reply to this message please click How to use the Add Text Feature When Post… - Apple Community It is helpful to us if you download the report to your Desktop.

I am a seasoned contributor, over 20 years on these forums. The EtreCheck report is widely used on these forums and as described is simply a report of what has been installed on your system. EtreCheck reports contain ZERO personal information and was developed by a very trusted contributor. If you wait long enough other contributors will also recommend that you download and run an EtreCheck report and then post it so multiple sets of eyes can analyze the report.

If you don't want to download, run and post an EtreCheck report then I'm afraid there is very little we can do to assist. It's kind of like walking into the doctor's office and not allowing them to run any tests on you after you complain about an ailment. Of course, it's totally your call.

Apple checks for hardware faults when you bring your machine into an Apple Store then DO NOT look to see what has been installed on your computer.

If you are running any of the following types of third party apps, then those are very likely the cause and should be uninstalled per the developers instructions. At best they are worthless and at worst they are damaging to Mac OS.

  • Antivirus
  • Cleaning
  • Security
  • VPN
  • Maintenance

Thanks for your rely - and you are who, exactly? I’m not downloading anything based on a random comment here.

The Etrecheck app collects hardware and software configuration data, strives to remove personally-identifiable details from its report, and is useful for avoiding a need to ask lots of questions, and to then describe how to gather the info.

If your choice is to not run the Etrecheck app (and that is entirely your decision), re-contact Apple Support.

And what did Apple actually replace both times?

FYI, you have a 90 day part/repair warranty so it is critical to have Apple make it right while you still have this warranty.

Personally I would not spend any money repairing any Intel Macs with USB-C ports for multiple reasons.
