What are the key differences in the newer models that should call for a switch. Or should I just wait it out?

As to whether you should upgrade or not is really up to you and what features matter the most to you. For example, do you want to be able to use Apple Intelligence? It's not possible on an iPhone 15, but it is an option on any iPhone 16 model. We don't know you or how you use your phone, or what features might benefit you or not. That's really up to you to decide.
