Why am I not eligible for the Apple TV promotion after purchasing a new computer?

On my iPad, I have tried to purchase Apple TV. My username, password, card etc is all correct, but when I try go through the authentication process it says error message 905 . I went to my new laptop (purchased today) and it says I qualify for a promotion of the first 3 months at a lower rate. I signed in etc and selected allow and it said I am not eligible to get the promotion. Can anyone explain? So it says I qualify (and even if I want to purchase the full amount, it doesn't allow me too) but then it says I am not eligible to get the promotion?!

If your recent Apple purchase qualifies you for a special offer, then you should redeem that offer on that new device, not on a different device. Once redeemed, the service should be available on all of your devices, as it gets linked to your Apple Account.

Note that the Apple TV+ offer is for new subscribers. Users that have had a free (or discounted) trial before, may not be eligible for a new free (or discounted) trial.

➤ Note that for Macs, users have to additionally sign in to the TV app (menu Account), for the redeem button to appear in the app.
