How to fix RCS group posting issue on iPad OS 18.4 and macOS Sequoia 15.3.2?

I am part of an RCS group that has suddenly stopped allowing me to post from Messages from iPad OS 18.4 and Mac OS Sequoia 15.3.2. The text input box simply doesn't appear for that thread in the Messages app on those devices. I am able to post normally to the same RCS group from Messages on iPhone OS 18.3.2. Only one RCS group seems to be affected I have others that still work fine across all devices. This is the second time that this has occurred. I recently switched to a new MacBook and iPad and the thread worked properly across all three devices for about a week and then suddenly stopped working on the MacBook and the iPad.

Has anyone else experienced this and been able to solve it? I have tried quitting / restarting the apps and the entire devices and this behavior persists.

Hi davidvia

Sorry for the delay and lack of actions regarding your situation.

While I attempted a few times to redirect attention my capacity

here is not a moderator. While I did send an email to one who is

not sure how timely that may be now.

Given your initial question had been clouded by a need to update

both Apple product systems to a current supported version; that

is where I hoped some issues would self-resolve, short of additional

steps. And the fact your post was in the Messages category, to get

that relocated to a different topic now, may not be useful.

Resetting and restart of both products after update to later OS

versions could've been useful. But I'm not sure where that took

you; guessing not far enough! In an attempt to bring some help

to your thread, failed to initially create that contact email.

Within the Apple Community, there's a way to make a new topic

thread, and ask others in a different user area, for help. That did

Not Work, so I emailed Joe; and if he missed it, others there may

find that inquiry, and link to your thread here. You could also post

another topic and take a discussion further; without intervention.

These communities are volunteers helping each other; sometimes

when there are technical difficulties, these don't get replies soon..

So, that seems to be the case. From what I've seen, weekends &

or holidays online, can be harder too. There is no staff here, just

a few people scattered across a global expanse, who volunteer.

While I'm in Alaska, some other participants may be further away!

Perhaps your devices may have another update before they'll

connect properly, since there was a recent number higher on

list for their operating systems from Apple.

Usually those if set to automatically download and get an update

they should, usually if left to charge and have connection to an

internet source to get their expected updates.

All those Apple OS numbers seem to reflect an older version.

Check those again, to see what your region has available; as

there had been recent security updates.
