how can I block specific websites from their popups that keep opening tabs in Safari?

I keep getting the same **Virus Protection** and ironically **Total Ad Block for "unwanted ads and pop ups"** in Safari. They open up tabs in my Safari and I can't figure out how to block them. They pop up every two minutes, it is really annoying. Surely there must be a way I can get rid of these!?!
