Prioritize Apple Music or Mute Specific Apps

TL;DR VERSION:

Is there a way to completely mute a specific iPhone app? …or at least prioritize Apple Music over audio from other apps?

To clarify, I am NOT inquiring about notification settings.

Likewise, I am NOT inquiring about how to mute all apps on my iPhone, including Apple Music.

DETAILED VERSION:

I would like to use an iPhone function/setting to mute select gaming apps that generate sound during use. This includes audio effects and background music, especially.

Some people (including me) have heightened sensitivity to sensory input and are more vulnerable to sensory overwhelm. This is an immensely stressful and deeply unpleasant experience because it triggers ”fight or flight” and activates the pain receptors and neural pathways consistent with physical pain.

Those of us with heightened aural sensitivity experience actual pain in response to aggressively loud and chaotically overlapping sounds. Sounds that are unexpected and abrupt are extra offensive to my senses.

Hence, the omission of volume controls in gaming apps constitutes a barrier to access for aurally sensitive neurominorities like me. Consequently, I would like to use an iPhone function/setting to work around this barrier by finding another way to mute/reduce the volume of iPhone gaming apps. To clarify: I need a “workaround solution” that is specific to select apps rather than inclusive of all apps because I still want to use Apple Music while playing these games.

SPECIFIC PROBLEMS:

Using free iPhone gaming apps while listening to Apple Music is currently creating two issues for me:

First, some gaming apps relentlessly keep interrupting Apple Music to autoplay aggressively loud advertisements. After each ad, I must manually switch back to Apple Music (which has been paused automatically) to press “play” and resume listening to my music. It isn’t long before this vicious cycle repeats (seemingly endlessly).

Second, some gaming apps with background music do not interrupt and automatically pause Apple Music. Instead, they play both music sources simultaneously by layering loud and obnoxious background music atop of my personal music. This results in a nonsensical cacophony tantamount to sensory torture.

Please help me problem-solve these two issues…

If there isn’t a way to mute specific apps or prioritize Apple Music audio, is there another approach that might suffice?
