What external drives work best with Mac mini M4 Pro?

Hi..

A quick apology if this has been asked previously. I'm purchasing an Mini M4 Pro (48 gig ram, 1 TB Internal. This is strictly for running Music Software Production. I always keep my audio and Instrument software on separate SATA SSDs in a 2 unit Sabrent enclosure, plugged into my 2018 Intel iMac.

I assume I might need faster communication with the M4 Mini? If so, I'd need between 2-3 TB total space, partitioned, if one storage device, or something with separate 1TB of room for audio, 1TB for Virtual instruments. I'm not the brightest bulb in the pack regarding this sort of thing. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. All operating systems would be run on the 1TB internal drive of the Mini. TIA!

You should be able to continue to use your existing drives without any ill effects.

While you can certainly get faster drives and even faster enclosures, if they work on your current Mac they should have no issues on a new Mac mini.

Beyond that, what is your question? Are you wanting to know if you need to buy drives?

You don't really.

But you can buy pretty much any hard drive out there and it should work.

If you want some high quality and fast drives, look at OWC.

For example:

For something less expensive:
