Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 | Failed to reinstall

Hey, so a while ago I erased my drive's data using Disk Utilities on Recovery Mode. And then I tried reinstalling the OS from the Recovery mode and got this error

The OS that I'm using before I erased was High Sierra 10.13.6. It's weird because my Recovery mode was on 10.7.5 Lion. What I tried doing on my Mac is that I tried disabling SIP because I can't transfer files but using the command (csrutil) isn't working on 10.7.5 Lion Recovery mode's Terminal.

So I tried erasing and reinstalling but reinstalling doesn't seem to work. I also tried using a bootable USB but it didn't work. I flashed it using etcher, and TransMac. Still unlucky.

Please help!

I am not aware of any current instructions for making a bootable macOS 10.7 Lion USB installer.

Try booting into Internet Recovery Mode using Command + Option + R to attempt to access the online macOS 10.13 High Sierra installer. If you get a "Recovery server could not be contacted" error, then you will need to use Fix #3 in the following article:

https://mrmacintosh.com/how-to-fix-the-recovery-server-could-not-be-contacted-error-high-sierra-recovery-is-still-online-but-broken/

Unfortunately some Macs may only boot to the online installer for the OS which originally shipped with the Mac from the factory (10.7 Lion is the oldest online installer) regardless of the keys used for booting.

Otherwise you will need to have access to another working Mac model generally 2007 to 2018 in order to create a bootable macOS USB installer for 10.11 or 10.13.

  • macOS 10.13 --- model from Late-2009 to mid-2019
  • macOS 10.11 --- model from 2007 to 2015

You can confirm macOS & hardware compatibility of the other Mac by using the information in the following article since the model years I listed are just general guidelines:

If the Mac shipped with installation DVDs, then you can use them to get started by installing OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.

Here is an Apple article with instructions for creating a bootable macOS USB installer:
