Numbers Document stored in iCloud Overwritten - Version to restore not available.

I accidentally overwrote a Numbers document stored in my Documents/Numbers directory in iCloud. When I attempted to Revert to the file, the earliest version of the document did not go all the way back to the version I want to restore.

The restore request was a matter of days, so I would expect to find it easily enough, but the earliest available version is from April 1, after I made the mistake. Is there any way to get documents restored that are older than 14 days?

Ah, but not if your documents are offloaded to iCloud. I tried to restore the document from Time Machine when I returned from a trip and found the file is not replicated on my local Time Machine.

iCloud Drive keeps a local copy on your Mac and that is backed up by Time Machine unless you have enabled 'Optimize...' in Settings for storage.

"Overwrote" leads me to think you made a copy/duplicate of the document, worked on the copy, then overwrote the original with the edited copy. I've never used the restore feature but I tried this scenario to see how it would play out. When I made a duplicate, the duplicate had none of the original's prior versions. It didn't matter if I used Finder's Duplicate function or did it the old fashioned Copy/Paste way. It started fresh. So it seems you should be able to restore to the point where you made the duplicate but not further back.
