Use VoiceOver WITHOUT disabling the touch screen

I use TTS for reading my college textbooks. Vendor recently updated to prevent text highlighting, so I can't highlight passages and use the built-in Speak option in the context menu as TTS. The only thing that works now is VoiceOver. However, VoiceOver disables touchscreen navigation. I'm selectively mute and can't use voice navigation.

I JUST want text read aloud. Nothing else.

Is there a way to do this?

Hi Pangolins,

Re: VoiceOver: " .... want text read aloud. Nothing else."

Am no expert in this area, yet your post to the community deserves some response.

go to the Home Screen, open Control Center, switch apps, and more.
