Using Apple Devices and iTunes to transfer audiobooks to iPhone without syncing.

When I update iTunes, and downloaded Apple Devices, I learned I could use iTunes only for audiobooks and podcasts.

I want to MANUALLY MANAGE my audiobooks and music. I backed up everything, and chose that option in Apple Devices. Of course, I lost all my audiobooks and music on my iPhone. None of my books were purchased through iTunes.

All of my audiobooks appear in iTunes, but there is no way to transfer them to my iPhone. Apple Devices will allow me to transfer some music, but not audiobooks.

How do I get my audiobooks back onto my iPhone? Do I have to uninstall iTunes, install an older version, and rebuild my library? Again?

I DO NOT want to "sync" my media. I'd rather not buy a non-Apple program to do this, but I may have to.

Thank you. It was a touch more complicated, but essentially this was spot on. I uninstalled the "new" Apple programs, then had to download a newer version of iTunes from the Microsoft Store. That version removed the existing version of iTunes, and installed the new one.

After a reboot, iTunes did, indeed revert to the familiar behavior, and recognized my iPhone.

It also, for some reason, deleted about half my audiobooks from the iTunes library. Plus, I had to choose "Manually Manage" again, which meant I lost all my content on the phone, too.

Sigh. This is irritating behavior, but not really unexpected.

Thanks again.
