how to remove non-printable characters in Pages

This may be too simplistic, but have you gone to the View menu and selected Hide Invisibles? Invisibles are non-printing characters & are there to help you see formatting. A search for "Invisibles" (without the quotes) in Pages Help returns a number of results that may be helpful to you.
Since “just delete them” seems obvious…
Non-printable? With all, or with any particular printers, or with any particular apps or output?
Are these Pages documents, or Microsoft 365 Copilot / Office docs?
As a start, update Pages and update macOS, and check again.

What kind of non-printable characters are you seeing? Are they strange symbols from copy-pasting, or something not displaying correctly in the document? Like Hoffman said, more details would help figure it out.
