how to remove non-printable characters in Pages

Only answers I can find are outdated and don't work. I have a Mac mini m4 running the latest version of Sequoia.

Mac mini, macOS 15.3

This may be too simplistic, but have you gone to the View menu and selected Hide Invisibles? Invisibles are non-printing characters & are there to help you see formatting. A search for "Invisibles" (without the quotes) in Pages Help returns a number of results that may be helpful to you.

Since “just delete them” seems obvious…

Non-printable? With all, or with any particular printers, or with any particular apps or output?

Are these Pages documents, or Microsoft 365 Copilot / Office docs?

As a start, update Pages and update macOS, and check again.

Post a screenshot if it’ll help, maybe?
