Missing "Add to Playlist" option in Apple Music on Windows 11

Here is expected behavior with included "add to playlist" option

Here is another example of expected behavior on Web Apple Music



bug appears everywhere the three dotted option appears except when selected in playlist menu


Tried multiple troubleshooting steps including:


Enabling Sync Library


tried selecting and deselecting checkboxes options under "Add songs to Library when adding to"


signed out, Uninstalled, restarted, multiple times


tried again after creating new empty playlists


am paying customer

I've been an early adopter of apple music windows and never has adding a song to your Cloud Music Library been a required prerequisite to adding a song to your playlist


as tested recently(ios AM, web AM) you can generally add songs to your playlists without specifically adding them to your Cloud Music Library

I can't abide Apple Music for Windows so I've not attempted to replicate this behaviour, but perhaps the issue here is that the track you are trying to add in the first screenshot isn't currently part of your Cloud Music Library, which is why that one offers Add to Library. Apple Music (the subscription service) allows you to add playlists to the library (perhaps suggested by Apple or others) without adding each of the individual tracks in the list to your library. In such a case any tracks that you have in that list would need to be added to the library first before they could be added to other playlists in your library.
