Apple Watch Burning Skin

I’ve had a Series 4 since it came out. I’ve had no issues at all with that watch. I dropped it and smashed the screen a few months ago and purchased myself a brand new series 10, within a couple weeks of wearing it I noticed redness on my skin and flaking, the spot was also very itchy. I didn’t pay any mind to it and continued wearing it for a couple more weeks until I looked at my wrist one day and saw that the patch got much bigger and it was much worse. I’ve had no issues with this brand new watch except a software bug where it would continuously ask for my Apple ID password multiple times a day, but other than that, the watch seem to work perfectly fine and was close to brand new. I wear my watch almost 24/7 and only take it off when I’m taking a shower. The burn wound that it caused is a circular shape so I can definitely rule out that it isn’t the computer of the watch itself, but it is the sensors that are causing a burn on my skin probably while the watch is tracking my vitals in sleep mode. I don’t understand how Apple could let something of this magnitude slide, Apple Watch is advertised to be worn all day & night as a health companion, yet my watch is frying my wrist the longer I wear it. I went to my family doctor and she confirmed that it is in fact a signifiant burn and not skin irritation. I took my watch to the Apple Store and I am waiting for an update on my repair. As an Apple customer for almost 12 Years, is there really nothing else? Aren't I and other customers who were burnt by this device liable to some kind of compensation? I knew this wasn't a small issue as the reaction from the store employees were quite panicked. Yet I see burns similar to mine tracing all the way back to 2018/2019 on models as early as the series 8. The images and posts are all over Apple forums and Reddit. I don't understand the lack of transparency as there is clearly a way bigger probelm at large with newer Apple Watch models and their sensors.

Apple series 9 watch.

April 2025 issue

I am adding this to the list of others that have posted burn issues.

I’ve had this watch since it came out, never had any issues.

I wear the watch daily, and have been cleaning it as per their instructions on a regular basis. Have not used any new type cleaners etc since I bought it.

Last evening, I was awoken in the middle of the night by the feeling of my wrist burning were the watch was located.

That morning I had what appeared to be burn marks where the sensors are located on the watch. Needless to say it was painful.

I contacted Apple, as i have Apple care that day. They  instructed me to go into a local Apple Store and they opened a file.

After spending several hours there, they informed me that there’s nothing they could do. This as diagnostics did not show any issues. In fact, when the apple employee looked at my file that was created from the phone conversation, it had already been noted as an allergic reaction for some reason? How they came to this conclusion I have no idea.

I asked if they could replace the watch, under AppleCare, as you can clearly see the burn mark on my arm. They informed me they could not as diagnostics did not show anything. My question to them was, how can this be. I have physical evidence of a burn caused by the watch that overheated by the sensors. Again, the response is there is nothing they could do. Apple kept pushing on me it was my issue, an allergic reaction and go see my doctor. After years of wearing different Apple Watches, I have developed a reaction overnight to this one?

Apple tech suggested I trade it in for another watch. Why pay for Apple care if even physical  harm, they do not honour it!

Has thjs reply from Apple happened anybody else?

Upgraded to the 10 about a month ago from the SE I had for 3 years and never had an issue. Last night the 10 began burning my wrist. I cleaned it, it continues to burn my wrist even after turning off the sensors. These are most definitely burns, I can watch the skin turn red after only a few minutes of wearing. ****** because I financed this and only upgraded bc the SE battery wasn’t holding charge.
