I am looking to buy airpods for a cheap price. The person that I want to buy from has them packaged and sealed brand new. They have provided me pictures of the box and the serial number next to the barcode. Can I be sure that they are original only by checking the serial number on the Apple page or they can fake it somehow?

Serial numbers can be spoofed. Or the number on the box may be real but it might not match the serial numbers on the AirPods inside. So to answer your question, yes, they can fake it. Unfortunately, the only way to guarantee you are purchasing real AirPods is to buy them directly from Apple or one of Apple's authorized retailers. Otherwise, buyer beware.
