Safari 18.4 slows or stops downloading webpages

Frequently, Safari will slow down or stop in the middle of a page load. Sometimes it will free up and continue to load pages, other times, not. Rarely, but it has happened, I'll get a message telling me Safari is using too many resources.

I do not have this issue when I attempt to load the webpage in question using another browser.

I have found little or no information about similar problems and fixes.

Any suggestions on what this issue might be and how I can resolve it?

I have not looked at Activity Monitor when this occurs. I will the next time and update this post.

I am running Safari 18,4 and MacOS Sequoia 15.4.

I have had this problem for some time and suspect it is not related to the version of MacOS.
