I am getting "flattened peaks" showing on the audio waveforms of my music, especially on the electric guitar tracks but also on the mastered versions. I am not a big user of compression on my tracks.
The sound of the tracks does seem loud though.
Can anyone explain what I'm doing wrong or how I get full dynamic range waveforms?

You might be clipping the waveform by having too much gain. Reduce the gain input.
A compressor or Clipper might actually help you with this if you learn how to use them properly.
Lastly, can you reduce/increase the visual size of the waveform using this button? Maybe this will help you better see what is going on with the waveform visually.
