Apple Calendar events not syncing with Outlook calendar on Mac

When I create an event on the Apple Calendar app (under an Outlook calendar), it doesn't sync with the same calendar when I try to view it on my Mac. If I do it the other way around, however, it does sync. I need help fixing this.
