File sharing stopped working after macOS 13.7.5 update

File sharing stopped working after 13.7.5 update between 2 macs (both with 13.7.5).

Anyone with the same issue pls?

I am 100% sure it is the 13.7.5 fault, because it worked just before I ran the updates on both computers.

(Intel Macbook, I can't upgrade to macos 14)

Yes, I tried to disable file sharing, reset mac and enable it again :-)

Thanks @rivmac!

This "smb://name of computer._smb._tcp.local/name of shared folder" method works for me also as a workaround, but what a thing for Apple to break!

Also, mounting shares via NFS also works if you get desperate to re-establish workflows and you really get stuck...

NFS Manager from Bresink Software is a nice GUI for NFS if you won't want to get down and dirty in Terminal.

Please Apple, can you pay some attention to this MAJOR bug and issue a patch ASAP!

But the last Apple's joke is : impossible to reinstall Ventura on my MacMini M1. It is said impossible to install older version but it is NOT. It is 13.7.5 and I want to reinstall 13.7.5... Crazy... Or maybe they deleted 13.7.5 reinstallation...

Anyway the method Cmd k + smb://ComputerName._smb._tcp.local/FolderName works...

Thank you Stephan this worked for me, but man what a pain!!! I shared the Drobo and the folder form the iMac and was able to connect to them... networking 2x 27" iMacs with a Drobo and Synology connected and suddenly poof. No more network connection - like that. it took over 2 hours of our time in the office trying a variety of things re setting WiFi re wiring all the Ethernet cables etc. Apple shame on you guys. I really am disappointed with apple on so many levels. as a 20 years+ user i swear I would switch if i could. I already gave up my iPhone, but clinging on to my Macbookpros and iMacs still. we shall see. I hope apple is seeing all the chaos here and planning a patch soon please.

Unfortunately for me this does not work. I use samba connection for file transfer between Android Mobiles and MacPro. The upgrade to 13.7.5 crashed all these connections with all Filemanager Apps I tried so far.

Here's an older thread from 2022 with similar networking and file sharing issues:

Cannot Connect to macOS Ventura on LAN - Apple Community

Perhaps some ideas listed therein may help someone.

No help for me so far, but somewhere I read that resetting the user account password may help, so that will be my next thing to try.

I encountered the same issue with my iMac Retina 5K 27-inch model released in 2017. While screen sharing was functioning correctly, file sharing remained an issue. Interestingly, all my other Macs were able to share files seamlessly. After exhausting various troubleshooting steps, such as examining the file sharing settings, disabling and enabling FireShare, adjusting full disk settings, checking internet provider router settings, rebooting, and utilizing Disk Utility’s First Aid feature with Boot into Internet Recovery (Option Command R), none of these interventions resolved the problem.

Finally, I resorted to reinstalling Ventura via Boot into the Recovery volume with the Command + R keys held down (Intel Macs). Now it works as expected.
