Mail app notification settings keep resetting to defaults

Whenever I try to change the notification settings on the Mail app to a custom mailbox, they reset to Inbox Only the next time I reopen the app. This doesn't happen if I change the settings to one of the default options (VIP, Contacts). Does anyone know how do I manage to persist my settings here? I am using Sequoia 15.4
