Apple Pay - Fraudulent transaction

There has been an Apple Pay charge on my card. However, I never made payments using Apple Pay on that card. This is definitely a fraudulent transaction. I am not sure how someone got access to my Apple Pay details and was able to use the card, as I never lost my phone (and the transaction was made in another country).

This charge does not show in my transaction history and I can't raise a dispute from there.

I have reached out to the bank and they mentioned since it's apple pay transaction, it is outside of the bank's purview.

I have looked at Apple Pay community suggestions and it mentions to contact bank. At this point, both bank and Apple are just pointing fingers at each other. What is the way to resolve this fraudulent transaction?

Hi, you’re confusing Apple Pay with perhaps your Apple Account or Apple Cash or even Apple Gift Card. But there is no such thing as Apple Pay details. It’s not an account it’s a service.

What has happened is your credit/debit card details were compromised. This generally happens at ATM’s, gas stations, convenience stores and grocery stores. When the card was swiped or chip inserted, scammers shimmed your account and personal information.

Skimmers in the transaction terminal connect to WiFi and transmit the data to scammers. They turn around and make counterfeit cards and/or sell it on the Dark Web.

You information was added to someone’s iPhone and your bank approved adding the card and authorized the transaction when scammers purchased goods or services with your card.

If the scammers had your Apple Account information the charges would have been billed to your account. Which you stated you can’t find or raise a dispute. They are on the scammers account which is why you can’t see them or dispute them.

Apple is not responsible for the fraudulent charges or refund of purchases. The transaction was completed in accordance with your banks rules and the bank issued the approval for the transaction.

Dispute the charges with the issuing bank. Call the phone number printed on the back of the card and request the fraud department. You’ll also need to file a report with your local police.

Sorry this has happened and if I can answer any questions, I’d be happy to assist.

Thank you so much for the detailed explanation!

I have raised complaints with the bank and the central authority and both of them responded saying that transactions made through Apple Pay is not within the bank's authority.

Hard to figure out who the responsible party is.
