There is SO much that can be customized on the iPhone EXCEPT I can’t hide the 100s of dumb holidays that Apple deems important on MY calendar! 📅 It is like they are TRYING to run everyone off to 3rd party calendar apps. I can’t believe how much Apple lets you customize, but they have forgotten the basics are really annoying as well! I don’t want all of their holidays that are irrelevant to me on my calendar!

You can create your very own Holiday Calendar with exactly what you want or subscribe to any other calendar, including a custom one from the link below. There is no way to edit the events of a calendar subscription, whether that is the Holiday calendar or one that was subscribed from another source.
It's Apple's calendar, and as the author and owner of the calendar, they can do whatever they want with it. It's also there a sample of what a calendar can do, but you don't have to use it.
Turn Apple's calendar off and create your own with only the dates, holidays and events you want. There are also (much harder to find now), sites that offer all kinds of prebuilt calendars you can try. But if you do find any, those are also fixed. Only the person who created it can edit the entries.
