Hi, I have the same problem with my friends who have updated. The problem is massive, we are waiting for a fix😕
Hi, I have the same problem with my friends who have updated. The problem is massive, we are waiting for a fix😕
AS STATED, THE CAMERAS I AM USING ARE SUPPORTED, ON THE LIST (canon r5MII, Nikon d780)
THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH PREVIEW AFTER 15.4 UPDATE.
PRIOR TO UPDATE COULD VIEW IMAGE PREVIEW
(note previously if your camera was not yet supported or you were on an old OS you couldn't view preview. BUT NEVER THIS BLACK SCREEN.
this has nothing to do with a third party -images ingested directly and when viewing in a folder as shown black screen. PRIOR TO UPDATE ALL PREVIEW THUMBNAILS WERE VISIBLE!!!
FWIW, Canon R5MII RAW files do open in Preview and Quick Look. They do not show a thumbnail image in the Finder.
Send a bug report to Apple.
Nikon and Canon RAW files. this is huge issue. contacted apple yesterday had no clue what I was talking about!!
my cameras are ALL supported and worked fine prior to the update
sorry everyone is debating what I posted.
waiting for the solution. this is huge for photo editors.
They'll be more likely to be aware of it if you send feedback to the link I posted.
Not all CR3 raw images are the same, nor is the case with Nikon NEF images. Some Nikon cameras as shown in the link that dialabrain has offered have a ⁴ footnote indicating that only the Lossless format is supported. Shoot in a different mode with that camera and the resulting NEF image won't display in the Finder.
We do not know if that CR3 image you have highlighted above was massaged in a third-party Photo application and that altered Apple's RAW image recognition for that image, or if you shot that Canon image in an unsupported camera mode and that has come back to haunt you. And yes, Apple may have goofed, but that will unlikely be as quick a fix as you would prefer.
The Nikon Z6 III still is not supported in Sequoia v15.4, though I have a sample RAW image from that camera that does display via Quick Look only.

you are 100% wrong. prior to the upgrade they absolutely did show a thumbnail image.
after update the black screen that you see.
How am I "100%" wrong? I just said they don't show a thumbnail image now. Sheesh. I'll go help someone else.

No one is debating you. We were trying to test to see if it was a general problem or just local to your machine. I'm sorry I did.

Only Apple can fix it. Most likely not until Sequoia 15.5 or later.
Which cameras? These are the supported models…

"ALL" doesn't help me test.
We also don't have any idea which Canon camera it came from.
it doesn't matter. every camera I use is on the supported list
Canon R5MII
Nikon D780
FWIW, I can open Nikon D780 RAW files. I cannot open Canon R5MII RAW files.
